The Installation License for the Greek section of the Greek-Bulgarian Gas Interconnector (IGB) was issued by a decision of the Minister of Environment and Energy George Stathakis, DEPA announced today.
As the company points out, the license is a milestone following the already issued Installation and Route Decision in Greece and the corresponding Construction License issued in Bulgaria in 2017.
It is also a prerequisite for the commencement of the construction works of the pipeline in Greece and follows the acquisition of the necessary premises for the construction of the Metering Station in the area of Komotini.
The License for the Independent Natural Gas System (INS), which is expected to be issued by the Hellenic Energy Regulatory Authority in the second quarter of 2019, is the last licensing step before the start of the construction works of the pipeline.
It is noted that DEPA participates in ICGB AD, which has undertaken the development of the IGB Project, through its subsidiary of YAFA Poseidon SA, where DEPA participates equally with Italian firm Edison.
