Second Scorpene class sub to be delivered to India in May

At the beginning of May, the INS submarine Khanderi submarine will be delivered to India’s Navy, the second Scorpene class, out of the six ordered by India from French company Naval Group in 2005 for $ 3.75 billion.

INS Khanderi has recently completed the sea acceptance trials and will be delivered either in late April or early May 2019. The first submarine of this particular order, INS Kalvari, was delivered to the Indian Navy in early March.

The third submarine of the INS Karanj program is currently undergoing tests and will be delivered by the end of 2019, while the fourth submarine INS Vela will soon be launched. The other two submarines are in different stages of shipbuilding in Indian yards.
