Saudi order for AN / TPY-2 radars for THAAD systems

An order for the construction of seven towed Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) radar AN / TPY-2 is to be delivered by Raytheon Company to Saudi Arabia following the approval of the program by the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

This is part of Saudi Arabia’s order for the purchase of 44 launchers of the THAAD system, 16 Anti-Ballistic Control Systems and 360 Missile Systems.

These systems will be funded through US state-funded low-cost FMS financial programs. This particular program is part of the huge Saudi armament program that was agreed between Saudi Arabia and the US and was announced last November.

The US-built anti-ballistic system will be integrated in the Saudi air defense system and will co-operate with the Saudi anti-ballistic defense system.
