China starts marine trials of electromagnetic gun (vid)

China’s PLA Navy has begun marine trials of the naval electromagnetic gun under development. The firearm is mounted on the Haiyangshan Type 072II Yuting landing ship and is estimated it will be operational in 2025.

The ship was located on the Yangtze River and reportedly the gun can hit targets at a distance of 124 miles at a speed of up to 1.6 miles per second. As Chinese sources report, trials are due to be completed by 2023.
