Another Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) contract was signed by the US Navy to build another San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock.

The new $ 1.47 billion contract includes the construction of the 14th ship of this class with the serial number LPD 30 which is to be the first Flight II LPD.

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) shipyards have already delivered to the US Navy a total of 11 vessels of this class and have under construction two more Fort Lauderdale (LPD 28) Richard M. McCool Jr. (LPD 29).

These ships are mainly used, if not exclusively by the US Marines, and can even carry MV-22 Osprey type aircraft.
