Offers for the design and construction of the interconnector gas pipeline between Greece and Bulgaria (IGB) were submitted by the consortium of two Bulgarian companies (Glavbolgarstroy International of Bulgaria and GP Group AD of Bulgaria) with Italian Bonatti and J & P AVAX as the project manager.
Altogether, 11 were the companies and consortiums that had expressed interest in the tender, worth 145m euros, five of which went through the second phase last February and two of them officially bid.
The capacity of the pipeline amounts to 3 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Bulgaria plans to start construction of the 182-kilometer pipeline in July this year with a view to commissioning it in 2020. The IGB pipeline will transport gas from Azerbaijan. The project manager, ICGB, will evaluate the technical offers, with the final decision expected next month.
