A contract worth a total of € 90 million was signed by Poland with Leonardo MW in connection with the acquisition of an undetermined number of AW101 anti-submarine combat / search and rescue helicopters.
The helicopters ordered will be built at the Leonardo MW facility in the UK at Yeovil, while helicopter support will take place at the state-owned holding company Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa and more specifically at the 1st Air Force Factory in Łódź. In addition to this contract, Gdańsk Polytechnic will also benefit.
According to Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak, the helicopter purchase agreement will be signed in late April, but the number of helicopters to be acquired will not be reported. However, in the recent past, the Polish Navy had requested the acquisition of eight anti-submarine helicopters.
