First Druze pilot in IAF history set to graduate

The first-ever Druze pilot in the history of the State of Israel is set to graduate the Israel Air Force pilots’ training program later this month.

Although there are three Druze navigators already on active duty in the Air Force, Cadet G., a resident of the Galilee, will be the first pilot to serve on active duty, flying a helicopter in the force.

G. reportedly preferred flying helicopters to fighter jets because of their ability to fly closer to the ground, according to a report by Ynet.

His relatives told the news outlet, “We feel a pride that cannot be described in words. This is a moment and an historic achievement for our village and for the entire (Druze) community.”
