Former Cyprus Intel director: Turkey wants nukes

The former commander of the Cyprus Intelligence Service, General Andreas Pentaras, made a shocking disclosure concerning Turkey and its desire to acquire nuclear weapons.

Mr. Pentaras, speaking to Sigma Live, revealed that the Russian-Turkish agreement for the construction of the nuclear power plant at Akuyu (64 km from the coast of Cyprus) “provides that the 4 nuclear reactors have the potential to enrich uranium. Uranium enrichment has nothing to do with the production of electricity, it is related to the creation of nuclear weapons. ”

With regard to Cyprus’s response to Turkey’s plans, Mr. Pentaras said that Nicosia should press the International Atomic Energy Agency “in order for a commission to be set up – possibly on a permanent basis – to control the specifications of the construction of the plant and of its operation”.
