A video from the cockpit of a MiG-31BM aircraft as it flies in the stratosphere was released by the Russian Defense Ministry.
The Pacific Fleet’s MiG-31BM interceptor aircraft have been flying close to space, Zvezda broadcaster said through a video taken from the cockpit during exercises.
The video shows the take-off of the aircraft, its upward course, and flight to the stratosphere! The flight took place at an altitude of more than 20,000 meters at a speed of 2,500 kilometers per hour. The crew tried to locate a simulated enemy target without engaging a ground-based air defense system.
The pilots also fired long-range air-to-air missiles. The MiG-31BM crew made a total of six flights to the stratosphere.
The MiG-31 is a long range supersonic interception aircraft. It is designed to intercept and destroy aerial targets at extremely low, medium, and high altitudes. Its upgraded version, the MiG-3BM, is equipped with a new weapon control system and a more modern radar.
