The Russian military has begun receiving upgraded T-90M tanks, said Army Chief Oleg Saliukov in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda daily.

The state contract for the upgrade and modernization of the T-90A combat tank called the T-90M was concluded between the Ministry of Defense and UralVagonZavod at the Army 2019 exhibition in June.

The T-90M, a modification of the T-90A, was created in the context of “Breakthrough-3”. The main difference between this chassis and the previous models is the new multilayer armor and the 125A 2A82-1M cannon also used in the new Armata MBT. The T-90M is also equipped with an anti-aircraft machine gun.
