Bulgaria mulling Korean T-50 LIFT fighter/trainers

The Bulgarian government has expressed interest in acquiring a number (not specified …) of T-50 fighter / trainer LIFTs (F-50s from South Korea), according to Bulgarian deputy defence minister, Krasimir Karakachanov, the Balkan country is seeking to domestically assemble aircraft of the type in an effort to obtain sub-construction work.

This implies that the number of aircraft to be acquired by the Bulgarian Air Force will be sufficient to do so… It is noted that a few months ago the Bulgarian government decided to procure just eight just F-16 Block 70 fighter jets to replace the old MiG -29s which are still operational.

The desire to acquire the T-50 is apparently about trying to increase the strength of Bulgaria, without spending the money required to acquire a similar number of F-16 fighters.
