Turkey railing against the burning of flag of its puppet on Cyprus, is like Hitler decrying burning the swastika

The Turkish foreign ministry on Sunday condemned the burning of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) flag in the Greek Cypriot side of the island on the anniversary of the foundation of the TRNC, which only Turkey recognizes, and is basically its puppet.

The ministry blasted the Greek Cypriots administration for failing to issue a statement regarding the incident and condemn the act that took place on Nov. 15.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded the north in response to a Greek Cypriot coup aiming to unite the island with Greece. Since then, the internationally recognised Republic of Cyprus has controlled the southern two-thirds of the island, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, only recognised by Turkey, the northern third.

“We condemn the burning of the TRNC [Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus] flag on the 36th anniversary of its establishment in the Greek Cypriot side and we give full support to TRNC authorities’ statements regarding this incident,” the ministry said.

Accusing “Greek authorities and Greek Cypriot administration,” as they call the government of the Republic of Cyprus, of responsibility in the incident due to their provocative statements towards Turkish Cypriots, the Turkish foreign ministry called on the international community to invite Greek Cypriot side and Greece to avoid moves that could further escalate the tension on the island.
