The Shandong aircraft carrier joined the Chinese navy only on December 17 and a video from the local CCTV7 television network shows it “in action”. Specifically, the video shows the Chinese fourth-generation J-15 fighters taking off and landing on the Shandong aircraft carrier.
Shandong, the construction of which began in 2013, is China’s first exclusively domestic construction. It can carry up to 36 fighters, according to a Popular Mechanics report. This is China’s second aircraft carrier. The first was the Russian made “Liaoning”.
