Reuters: Libya has officially requested forces from Turkey

The internationally recognized Libyan government has made a formal request to Turkey to provide military support by “air, land and sea” in order to repel the attack by the eastern forces seeking to capture the capital Tripoli, an official from Tripoli said today, according to Reuters news agency.

According to Reuters, the official, who did not want to be named, spoke after statements by Interior Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Fatih Basaga, who suggested to reporters in Tunis that no such request had been made.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his country would send troops to Libya at Tripoli’s request within the next month.
